Methodology of Research and Development (SKEE 4813)
Final Year Project (FYP) aims to provide students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge learned at FKE through design and implementation of engineering projects. The SKEE 4813 course equips students with knowledge and skills to conduct research-based FYP. This course emphasizes the application of engineering principles, analytical methods, modern tools, and IT resources to develop innovative and practical solutions while considering relevant limitations. Additionally, this course integrates project management components such as planning, execution, and effective resource utilization to achieve expected outcomes. Students will learn how to investigate, analyze, and synthesize information systematically to design and deliver successful projects. This course is delivered through lectures, project supervision, report assessments and project presentations. By the end of the course, students are expected to be able to address real-world engineering challenges with confidence, creativity, and sound judgment. The experiences also facilitate in nurturing competency, responsibility, teamworking, leadership, ethics and professionalism as future engineers.
Course Learning Outcomes
Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and electrical engineering to the solution of complex engineering problems.
Examine research literatures to understand the sciences behind the problems and research gaps.
Synthesize complex electrical engineering problems to communicate effectively in writing and presentation.
Demonstrate ability to embrace and adapt new technologies in innovating solution.
Practice effective management of research and development projects, including strategic planning, execution, and evaluation to achieve sustainable and long-term project outcomes.
